Now distilled water is placed between the plates and the capacitor is charged up again to the same voltage as before. Calculate the magnitude of charge stored on each plate in this case. (Use K = 83.0 for the dielectric Constant of water.)

We know that,

E = 3.05 V/5.1 x 10^-3 m = 598.04 V/m

Hence, E = 598.04 V/m

We know that,

Q = CV

C = epsilon0 A/d

C = 8.85 x 10^-12 x 0.000877/0.0051 = 1.52 x 10^-12 F

Q = 1.52 x 10^-12 x 3.05 = 4.64 x 10^-12 C

Hence, Q = 4.64 x 10^-12 C = 4.64 pC

C' = kC = 83 x 1.52 x 10^-12 = 126.16 x 10^-12 F

Q' = 126.16 x 10^-12 x 3.05 = 384.79 x 10^-10 C = 384.79 x 10^-12 C
