Explanation / Answer

here,

r1 = 0.496 m

magnitude of electric feild , E1 = 3.6 * 10^4 N/C

A)

let the magnitude of charge per unit length be lamda

E1 = lamda /( 2 * pi * r * e0)

3.6 * 10^4 = lamda /( 2 * pi * 0.496 * 8.85 * 10^-12)

lamda = 9.92 * 10^-7 C/m

B)

let the distance be r2

E2 = lamda /( 2 * pi * r2 * e0)

3.6*12 * 10^4 = 9.92 * 10^-7 /( 2 * pi * r2 * 8.85 * 10^-12)

r2 = 4.13 * 10^-2 m

the distance is 4.13 * 10^-2 m
