the tangent on electric field lines at the required point will give the direction of electric field at that point .To calculate the magnitude we can calculate numerically also but distance from q to that point should be known.

here from the field line indicated one can get the relative strength of electric field by comparing the density of field lines at that point.

here at point B strength of electric field is highest and at D it is lowest.
