Question
1) Consider a system consisting of two concentric solenoids, as illustrated in the figure(Figure 1) . The current in the outer solenoid is I1=1.25A, and the current in the inner solenoid is I2=2.17A. The number of turns per centimeter is 105 for the outer solenoid and 125 for the inner solenoid. Find the magnitude of magnetic field inside the inner solenoid.
2) A long, straight wire carries a current of 14 A. Next to the wire is a square loop with sides 1.0 m in length, as shown in the figure(Figure 1) . The loop carries a current of 2.5 A in the direction indicated. Calculate the magnitude of the net force acting on the loop. Express your answer using two significant figures.
1.25 A 2.17 AExplanation / Answer
As you asked multiple questions so i am bound to answer first one.
(1)
magnetic field inside the inner solenoid is,
B = u0*n1*I1 - u0*n2*I2
I1 = 1.25 A
n1 = 105 / 0.01 = 1.05 / m
I2 = 2.17 A
n2 = 1.25 / m
B = 4*pi*10^(-7)*[1.25*1.05 - 2.17*1.25]
B = -1.75*10^(-6) T
