Question

Given that 9V is applied across the circular terminal posts of the following circuit, with R_1 = 11 Ohm, R_2 = 22 Ohm, R_3 = 33 Ohm, what is the current through resistor R_3? Given that a charge of 1.5 times 10^-8 C is supplied by each of the battery terminal posts in the following circuit, (+ to one and - to the other), and with C_1 = 11 times 10^-9F, C_2 = 22 times 10^-9F, C_3 = 33 times 10^-9F, what is the Voltage of the battery? The following circuit has a 90V battery (Ten 9V batteries in series), R = 1.73 times 10^6 Ohm and C = 1.73 times 10^-6 F. The switch connects upward to the batters 24hours which fully charges up the capacitor, then at time t_0 it is switched, to b) and the capacitor starts discharging. How long will it take to reduce the on the capacitor (Vc)to 36.8% of its fully charged value?

Explanation / Answer

9) R1 = 11 ohms , R2 =22 ohms , R3 = 33 ohms

R12 = 11*22/(11+22) = 7.33 ohms

R = R123 = 33 +7.33 = 40 .33 ohms

V = 9 V

I123 = V/R = 9/40.33 = 0.223 A

in series combination of current is constant

current through R3 is I3 = 0.223 A

10) C1 = 11 nF, C2 = 22 nF , C3 =33 nF

C12 =11 +22 = 33 nF

C123 = 33*33/(33+33)

C123 = 16.5 nF

Q =1.5*10^-8 C = 15 nC

V123 = 15/16.5 = 0.91 V
