Question

The speed of the body during the first 40 sec. d. The speed of the body between t = 40 sec and t = 70 sec. A 145-g baseball is dropped from a tree 22m above the ground. a. With what speed would it hit the ground if the air resistance could be ignore b. How long does the ball stay in the air before hits the ground. Find the tension in ropes A and B in Fig.2 A 50 -lb block rests on a horizontal surface. A horizontal pull of 10-Ib is just start the block moving. After motion is started, only a 5- lb force is required to move the block with a constant speed. Find the coefficient of static and V friction.

Explanation / Answer

2) m = 145 g, h = 22 m

(a) from kinematic equations

v^2 - u^2 = 2as

v^2 -0 = 2*9.8*22

v = 20.76 m/s

(b) v = u+at

20.76 = 0 +9.8*t

t = 2.12 s

3) net force along vertical direction

TB*sin(20) -W =0

TB*Sin(20) - 500 =0

TB = 1462 N

net force along horizontal direction

TA = TB cos(20)

TA = 1462*cos(20)

TA = 1373.8 N
