3. How would you shield an electronic circuit from stray electric fields? Why does this method work? This answer has not been graded yet Electric Potential and Electric Potential Energy Consider the diagrams below In each diagram, determne which point higher potental, point Aor port B Justify your answer. This answer has not been graded yet 5. A surface is an equipotential surface if the electric feld is perpendicular to the surface. True or taise? Justily your answer This answer has not been graded yet. 6. Two dfferent charges, q, and are placed at two deterent locations, one charge at each location. The babons have te same electric potensal V. Do the charges have the same electric potential energy? Explain your answer

Explanation / Answer

4)We know

V=kq/r

It means if the distance from charge increses the potential decreases. Point B is farther from the chrage than point A.

Thus the potential at pont A is more than at point B.

For second figure we know that electric field lines point from high potential to low potential.Thus point A is at high potential.

5) For this let us consider an equipotential surface with electric field lines that are not perpendicular to the surface. These field lines can then be resolved into two components i.e., one that is perpendicular to the surface and the other along the surface.

The field line along the surface means that the charges would move along the surface in the direction of the field lines.

This means that there would be potential difference along the surface as the charges only move when there is a difference in potential. But that is not possible since the surface was said to be equipotential with equal potential across the surface.

Thus there cannot be any field component along the surface which leaves the field lines no option other than to be perpendicular to the surface.
