Question
In a Do-Nothing Machine, two sliders are confined to perpendicular and are connected by a rod. The rod can be rotated, causing the sliders to move back and forth in that respective channels. Suppose that the channels line up with the x-axis y-directions, and that slider in the x-channel has velocity V_x. Let theta be the angle of the connecting rod with respect to x-direction. The length of the rod between the two sliders is L. Find an expression for the velocity of the slider in the y-channel, V_y.Explanation / Answer
Since length of slide cant be changed. So velocity along the length at both end will be same.
=> Vxcos = Vysin
=> Vy = Vx*cos/sin Answer
