Question
The plates of a spherical capacitor have radii 31.3 mm and 33.4 mm. (a) Calculate the capacitance. (b) What must be the plate area of a parallel-plate capacitor with the same plate separation and capacitance?
Ok, so I am fine on the first question, but I keep getting the second question wrong... I'm certain I am using the right equation but for whatever reason it is saying my answer is wrong.
Forumula I'm using: C=?A/d => A=Cd/?
The plates of a spherical capacitor have radii 31.3 mm and 33.4 mm. (a) Calculate the capacitance. (b) What must be the plate area of a parallel-plate capacitor with the same plate separation and capacitance? (a) Number 55.38 (b) Number 1.314 Unitst oF Unitsy cm 2 Unitsm 2Explanation / Answer
C=eA/d
55.38 *10^-12 = (8.85*10^-12)*A/(2.1*10^-3)
A = 0.01314 m^2
A*10^4=131.4 cm^2
