Explanation / Answer

From Atkins-Shiffrin theory Human memory have 3 stages

those are 1) sensory memory

2) short tem memory

3) long term memory

1) sensory memory: It consists of immediate, initial recording of data that enter though the senses.

sensory memory again classified into 1)Iconic memory(visual stimulation) 2) Echonic memory(audio stimulation)

Echonic memory is important for an ability to comprehend and understand the language

sensory memory preserved for a short period of time

2) short term memory or working memory : it is the memory that holds information briefly before it is either stored in long term memory or is forgetten

it includes listening someone speak and remembering wht they are saying during conversation. working memory transferred into longterm memory but only if we practise. otherwise these memories lost. for example in case of a phone number, you may have to repeat it over and over again in your head until you dial the number otherwise you may forget it.

3) long term memory: it is the third and final stage of information storage. it is the stage of memory capable of large and relatively permanent storage
