Question
Use the worked example above to help you solve this problem. A wave has a wavelength of 2.50 m. Calculate the frequency of the wave if it is each of the following types of waves. Take the speed of sound as 343 m/s and the speed of light as 3.00 times 10^8 m/s. (a) a sound wave (b) a light wave (a) Find the wavelength of an electromagnetic wave with frequency 8.95 GHz = 8.95 times 10^9 Hz (G = giga = 10^9), which is in the microwave range. (b) Find the speed of a sound wave in an unknown fluid medium if a frequency of 593 Hz has a wavelength of 2.45 m.Explanation / Answer
Multiple questions Allowed to answer only 1 question at a time According to the chegg guidelines.
1) Part a)
Frequency = c / lamda = 343 m/s / ( 2.50 m ) = 137.2 hz
Part b)
Frequency = c / lamda = 3 * 10 ^8 m/s / ( 2.50 m ) = 1.2 * 10 ^ 8 hz
