Question

One long conductor carries a current I = 10 A as shown in the following figure. Represent the direction of the magnitude field B vector_A created by the wire at A. (b) Calculate the magnitude of the field B vector_A. (c) Represent the direction of the magnitude field B vector_C created by the wire at C. (d) Calculate the magnitude of the field B vector_C. Consider the combination of capacity shown below. (a) Calculate the equivalent capacitance C_ab of the group. (b) Determine the change on each capacitor. (c) Calculate the potential difference across each capacitor (d) Calculate the energy stored in each capacitor.

Explanation / Answer

Given that

current i=10 A

distance d1=5 cm

distance d2=10 cm

basing on the concept of moving charges in magnetic field

now we find the magnitude of magnetic field at point A

the magnetic field BA=2*10^-7*i/d1=2*10^-7*10/0.05=4*10^-5 T

the direction of magnetic field BA is out side the page

now we find the magnetic field at point Bc

the magnetic field at point Bc=2*10^-7*i/d2=2*10^-7*10/0.1=2*10^-5 T

the direction of magnetic field Bc is inside the page
