Question

Question: What is the time constant, in milliseconds, for charging a 44.4 F capacitor, if the charging resistance is 2.38 k?

I have calculated this out but I feel like my answer is incorrect... I've copied my worked below:
Formula to find time constant in RC circuit: t = RC
C = 2.38 k = 2.38 x 10^-3
R = 44.4 F = 44.4 x 10^-6 F
Solve for find time constant: t = (2.38 x 10^-3 )( 44.4 x 10^-6 F) = 0.00000010567 s
= 0.00000010567 s x 1000 ms = 0.000105672 ms

If you could please help me with the correct formula or steps to take, it would be greatly appreciated!

Explanation / Answer

time constant is given by:

t = R*C

R = 2.38 k-ohm = 2.38*10^+3 ohm

C = 44.4 uF = 44.4*10^-6 F

t = 2.38*10^+3*44.4*10^-6

t = 0.105672 sec = 0.105672*1000 ms = 105.672 ms

your mistake was that given R is 2.38*10^+3 ohm, but you chose 2.38*10^-3 ohm

Rest of your work is correct
