Question

Consider the following figure. (a) Find the current in each resistor of the figure above by using the rules for resistors in series and parallel. 7.5 ohm _______ A 21.0 ohm ______ A 24 ohm _______ A (b) Write three independent equations for the three currents using Kirchhoffs laws: one with the node rule; a second using the loop rule through the battery, the 7.5-ohm resistor, and the 24.0-ohm resistor; and the third using the loop rule through the 21.0-ohm and 24.0-ohm resistors. Solve to check the answers found in part (a). (Submit a file with a maximum size of 1 MB.)

Explanation / Answer

(a) Equivalent capacitance=7.5+(21*24/(21+24))=18.7 ohm

we got

current in 7.5 =18/18.7=0.96 A

current in 21 ohm=24/45 *0.96=0.51 A

current in 24 ohm=21/45 *0.96=0.45 A

(b) Kirchoff law equation are

18=I2*R2+24*I(24)

18=I2*R2 + 21*I1

I2=I(24) +I1
