Question
A potion of a wire that is 10 cm long is in a uniform magnetic field. The graph shows the force on the wire versus the current. If the field is perpendicular to the wire, what is the magnitude of the magnetic field?
24. A portion of a wire that is 10 cm long is in a uniform magnetic field. The graph shows the force on the -- wire versus the current. If the field is perpendicular to the wire, what is the magnitude of the magnetic field? wire versus the curent. If the field is 0.2 r 0.16 0.12 0.08 0.04 10 Current (A) a. 0.2 T b. 1.0 T c. 0.5 T d. 2.0 TExplanation / Answer
We know that the force is defined as
F = ILB
B = (F/I)*(1/L)
From the figure we can calculate the slope which will be equal to the (F/I)
Slope of the figure = (0.2-0) /(10-0) = 0.02 N/A
Now putting the value in the above equation
B = 0.02*(1/0.1) = 0.2 T
length of the wire (L) = 10 cm = 0.1 m
Hence the correct option is A.
