1. The plants which produces seeds are called gymnosperms. It is derived from a Greek word gymnospermos which means naked seed.
2. It is divided into 4 groups : conifers, cycads, ginko and pnetophytes. Among these conifers is the largest.
3. Two types of spores are produced in gymnosperms namely microspore and megaspore. Microspores are produced from male cone.
4.On mitosis, the microspore develop into generative nucleus and tube nucleus.
5. Megaspores are used in female reproduction.
6. On mitosis, one nuclei is divided 3 times to produce 8 nuclei. Among these 2 nuclei fuse to give polar nucleus. Other nuclei fuse to form 2 egg apparatus (3 nuclei each)
