45. The principle of inertia states that any obect resists the chance of its states, means an oject in motion tend to remain in motion and an object at rest tend to remain at rest .

So if tablecloth is pulled(wiped) then although the table cloth becomes in motion but the objects kept on this tend to remain at rest and and if the cloth is pulled downward then the objects on the cloth will remained on the table.

But if the clothis pulled upward then an upward force will be exerted on the objects kept on the cloth hence this external force will affect their inertia and they will not remain at rest on the table.
