let object is at distance x from mirror

u=x

image distance=v=x-57.7 cm

f=40.1 cm

using

1/v + 1/v =1/f

we got x=118.4 cm

so object distance=118.4 cm

(b) image distance=118.4-57.7=60.7 cm

if object is between focus and mirror

let u=x

v=57.7 -x

f=40.1

we got

x=19.5 cm

so object distance=19.49 cm

image distance=57.7-19.49=38.21 cm
