Question
Need help on the last part. part d
A 205-kg block starts from rest at the top of a 30.0P indine and slides a distance of 2.20 m down the incline in 1.70 s (a) Find the magnitude of the acceleration of the block. (b) Find the coefficient of kinetic friction between block and plane. (c) Find the friction force acting on the block (d) Find the speed of the block after it has slid 2.20 m Part 1 of 6-Conceptualize We estimate the acceleration to be a few m/s down the incline, the friction force several newtons, and the coefficient of friction a fraction around 0.5. We estimate the final speed to be a few m/s.Explanation / Answer
a)
a = 2x/t^2
= (2*2.20)/(1.70)^2
= 1.52 m/s^2
b)
uk = fk/N
= mgsin(theta) - ma / mgcos(theta)
= tan(theta) - a/gcos(theta)
= tan(30) - ((1.522)/(9.81*cos30))
= 0.40
c)
fk = uk*N
= uk*mg*cos(theta)
= 0.4*2.05*9.8*cos30
= 6.96 N
(or 7 N rounded off)
d)
v^2 - v0^2 = 2ax
v = sqrt(2*1.52*2.20)
= 2.6 m/s (rounded off)
