For cos(2.51 rad) I tried —> cos(sqrt2.51) and answered 0.999 & 1.00 and both answers were wrong; I tried sqrt bc I thought that’s what was meant by rad (not sure what rad means) —> cos(2.51) and got 0.999 and that was wrong previously

Just like degree, radian (short: rad) is a unit of measurement of angles.

In your calculator, you have to change the angle mode from degree to rad and then proceed with the calculations.

It gives:

cos(2.51 rad) = -0.8071

Slope = tan (th), where th is the required angle.

Therefore:

th = arctan (slope)

= arctan(2.82)

= 70.47 degrees

(arctan is the inverse tangent; remember to change the mode of your calculator to degrees while calculating for the last part)
