Question
What is the solar constant for Mercury (r = 5.1 x 108km)-I know the solar radiation equation is I=P/4d2.
-And the power emitted from the sun is 3.9 x 1026 W
When I plug this in the formula I am getting 1.2 x 108W/m2
But when I Google the answer, other websites say the solar constantis 9936.9W/m2 .
So how do you really solve this for the solar constant?

Provided from my book, the energy balance equation is
P = (1-)IA
Emissivity equation? (e= Stefan-Boltzmann constant = 5.67 x10-8 W/m2 K4)
P = eAT4
Explanation / Answer
the distance from mercury to sun is 57,9 . 10^6 km and dont forget to change it to m before using the equation to getP. I 've calc P at about 9200 W/m^2, which is pretty close .
