Question
A magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane of asingle-turn circular coil. The magnitude of the field is changing,so that an emf of 0.80V and a current of 3.2 A are induced in thecoil. The wire is then re-formed into a single-turn square coil, which is used in the same magnetic field (again perpendicular tothe plane of the coil and with a magnitude changing at the samerate). What emf and current are induced in the square coil? Please Help A magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane of asingle-turn circular coil. What emf and current are induced in the square coil? Please HelpExplanation / Answer
The induced emf is E = / t Therefore, E1 = A1 B / t and E2 = A2 B /t Since A1 = R2 and A2 = (L/4)2 and L = 2 R Then A2 / A1 = / 4 and E2 = (A2 / A1 ) E1 The resistance is constant. Therefore: E2 = E1( / 4) and I2 = I1( / 4 )
