Distance of the image v = 4 m

We know m = v / u

From this u= v /m = v / 3

From the equation ( 1/ u ) + ( 1/ v )= ( 1/ f)

                             (1/ (v/3) ) + ( 1/ v) = ( 1/ f)

                             (3/ v) + ( 1/ v) = ( 1/ f)

                              4 / v = 1/ f

                              4 /4 = 1/ f

From this focal length f = 1 m

Object distance u = v / 3
