Question
Consider a Bohr model of doubly ionized lithium.A.) Write an expression for the energy levels of the sole remainingelectron.
My answer is E=-13.6/(1)2 eV
B.) Find the energy for n=4
My answer is E=-13.6/(4)2 eV =-.85 eV
C.) Find the energy for n=2
My answer is E=-13.6/(2)2eV=-3.4eV
D.)Find the energy emitted when the electron transits from thefourth energy level to the second energy level.
My answer is -.85eV-(-3.4eV)= 2.55eV
E.) Find the frequency and wavelength of the emitted photon.
My answer is f=(Ei-Ef)/h=2.55eV/6.63*10-34J*s=3.84*1033Hz
=c/f=3.00*108m/s/3.84*1033=7.81*10-26m.
F.) What part of the spectrum is the emitted light?
Where I am stuck!
Please help. Thanks.
Explanation / Answer
really do not make sense. we usually think of EM waves to bein terms of nanometers at the smallest. i really suggest re-doing your problem, or maybe posting the wholeproblem and letting us try it from the beginning. Also, your frequency seems extremely high. Double check thattoo.
