Question
Hi, can someone help me with this question, I've been thinkingabout it for a while but can't figure it out: What would happen if the glass of a thermometer expanded moreon warming than did the liquid in the tube? You would have to hold it withthe bulb on top. The numbers would not be evenlyspaced. The thermometer wouldbreak. It could be used only for temperaturesbelow room temperature. The scale on the thermometer isreversed so that higher temperature values would be found closer tothe bulb.
Thank you for any replies What would happen if the glass of a thermometer expanded moreon warming than did the liquid in the tube?

Explanation / Answer
The scale would have to be reversed. The volume of the glass enclosing the liquid would expandfaster than the volume of the enclosed causing the liquid to drop as the temperature increased.Related Questions
