Question
A shaft connected to a motor does 600 kJ of work in 5minutes. If the shaft rotates at 1750 rpm, what is the torqueon the shaft? -------------------------------------------- The answer is supposed to be 18.2 N*m, but I keep gettingwrong answer. (The book answer could be wrong, wouldn't be thefirst time) Please explain in detail how to solve, thank you. A shaft connected to a motor does 600 kJ of work in 5minutes. A shaft connected to a motor does 600 kJ of work in 5minutes. If the shaft rotates at 1750 rpm, what is the torqueon the shaft? -------------------------------------------- The answer is supposed to be 18.2 N*m, but I keep gettingwrong answer. (The book answer could be wrong, wouldn't be thefirst time) POWER=WORK/TIME=600000/5*60=2000wpower=torque*angular velocity
so torque=power/angular velocity
but ang vel=2*3.14*1750/60=183.16rad/sec
hence torque=2000/183.16=10.91Nm
