Question
Most genetic mutations associated with cancer are actually associated with a "predisposition" to developing the disease. In other words, genes associated with a given type of cancer usually have relatively low penetrance. In 200 words or fewer... why do you think that is? Most genetic mutations associated with cancer are actually associated with a "predisposition" to developing the disease. In other words, genes associated with a given type of cancer usually have relatively low penetrance. In 200 words or fewer... why do you think that is?Explanation / Answer
as recent advance and development of molecular techniques we can study the characters of oncogene. now a days the world population is affected with several type of cancer problem. which are highly fetal.
recent study showed that several genes associated with cancer show low penetrance. to clearly understand this we can take an example BRCA1 ,BRCA2 are two alleles having slow penerrance property, they are leading factor causing breast cancer.
BRCA encodes a nuclear phosphoprotein, this can combine with tumour suppressor, DNA damage sensors, signal transducers ; togeather they form BRCA1 associated genome survellience complex. BRCA1 inherited mutation cause high risk of breast and prostate cancer.
BRCA2 cause lifetime high risk of prostate cancer.
