Question

Also- I did a vectors problem: The magnitudes of the four displacement vectors shown in the drawing are A = 13.0 m,(160) B = 11.0 m,(90) C = 12.0 m,(215) and D = 23.0 m.(310) Determine the magnitude and directional angle for the resultant that occurs when these vectors are added together.
magnitude___ m. *I answered 11.6 and I was right, but the directional angle was wrong.
directional angle:* 51.2° (counter-clockwise from the +x axis) I added both my Rx and Ry to get my angle- but didn't not get it right....Why??

Explanation / Answer

note both Rx and Ry are negative, the angle theta is in the quadrant, so the answer should be 180 + arctan(Ry/Rx) = 180 + 51 = 231 degrees.
