Question

This is problem 17 from chapter 13 of Physics by Walker 4th edition.

I have already looked at the solved problem here on masteringphysics but either the math setup is wrong or the answer is.

Problem: The position of a mass on a springis given by x=(7.8cm)cos[2t/(.92s)].

What is the period, T, of this motion? Where is the mass at t=.25s?

I have the first answer T=.92s

I thought you would just you the original equation given and plug in the numbers.

x= (7.8cm)cos[2(.25s)/(.92s)] = 7.8cm, which is what is originally given in the problem? The book answer in back with different numbers gives -1.4m which is what the cramster answer gives but the setup of the math has to be wrong.

thanks
