Question
When you design pipe networks for scenarios in figures A and B, which network (gravity or pressure) would you select for each scenario? Briefly explain why. Five students are working on a road design project. Each student is responsible for a portion of the design. Please make right sequence of the workflow based on the work assigned to each one of the students (A, B, C, D, and E). Student A: Analyze model and optimize design. Student B: Design alignment. Student C: Create base map. Student D: Generate existing ground profile and design grades. Student E: Construct assemblies and build the corridor.Explanation / Answer
Answer (2):
In scenario A, the flow is possible if only gravity force is there and no pressure force, since ZL is less than Z0, so gravity model will be selected.
Whereas, in scenario B, although head at outlet is less than head at source, but since ZL is greater than Z0, pressure will be required because flow will not be possible under gravity only. So, pressure model will be selected.
