Explanation / Answer

a) Bag house filter

A fabric filter is a dust collection device using a woven or non-woven filter bag that filters and collects the dust in process gas. When the filter cloth is made into a cylindrical-shaped bag and suspended, it is referred to as a baghouse or a fabric filter. The fabric filter dust collection principle is that the dust layer that adheres to and is deposited on the surface of the filter bag and the interior of the filter cloth (the primary dust layer) filters and collects the dust contained in the process gas.

b)Electrostatic precipitator

ESP are generally used for the removal of finer particles upto 0.1 micron. The particles are removed by electrostatic force. In ESPs high voltage in range of 40-50KVA is passed through discharge electrode resulting development of strong ionisation field in between discharge electrode and collecting electrode.A blue coloured light called corona is generated in vicinity of discharge electrode. When dirty gas ladens with particulates passes through the ionisation field .Particulates get ionised and move toward collecting electrode with a velocity called migration velocity. Sometimes it is also called drift velocity. The migration velocity dependson the electrical properties. When particles collides with positive electrode it losses its charge and becomes neutral. In this way particle is removed from the screen.

c) wet chemical scrubber

wet scrubber removes particulates from flue gas by washing through liquid.Normally the particles are removed by impaction, impigments and adsorption. By using wet scrubber various gaseous pollutants are also removed from flue gas.For removal of gaseous pollutants the sprinkling liwuid should be appropiate or designated.
