Question
I found this answer by using theequation F=IlB to find the length i took degrees and turned it toradians and multiplied it by the radius. What am I doing wrong??A current of 4.40 A flows in a circular conducting loop of radius0.530 m. There is a magnetic field present whose direction isperpendicular to the plane of the loop, and whose magnitude is5.00*10^(-3) T. Find the magnitude of the force on a segment of theloop which connects two points 1 and 2 on the circular loopsubtending an 79.0 degree arc of the circle.
Hint: The force is the same as that on a straight wire connectingthe same two points on the circle.

Explanation / Answer
. Current in the loop ( I ) = 4.40 A . Radius of the loop (r) = 0.530 m . Hence Length of the loop is: L = 2(pi) r = 2 * 3.14 * 0.530 = 3.3284 m . Magnetic field (B) = 5.00 * 10-3 T . Angle subtended is : 79.0 degree . We know that : . Force is : F = BI L sin( angle ) . = ( 5.00 *10-3 T * 4.40 * 3.3284 m * sin79 ) = 0.07187 N . Hope this helps u!Related Questions
