Question
In my lab manual I am asked to use this equation to find thetheoretical magnetic fieldBt=oI(2.43±0.03) I know the 0.03 is supposed to be the uncertainty, but am Isupposed to add and subtract 0.03 to/from the answer Iget from oI(2.43) or what? or do I add andsubstract to/from 2.43 and then multiply that byoI? Will I have three values since I will subtract the 0.03,then don't subtract or add anything, then add 0.03? In my lab manual I am asked to use this equation to find thetheoretical magnetic field

Explanation / Answer
. 1. You shoud add or subtract the tolerance, 0.03,from 2.43 and then multiply that result by 0I; youshould get two values: 2. Bt_lower_limit =0I(2.40) 3. Bt_upperlimit = 0I(2.46) . 4. If the equation had been written asfollows: Bt =oI(2.43)±0.03 then youwould obtain the following two values: 5. Bt_lower_limit =0I(2.43)-0.03 6. Bt_upperlimit = 0I(2.43)+0.03 . 7. Follow the descending order of operationsto determine which operators to invoke first: Parenthetical==>exponentation==>multiplication or division==>additionor subtraction This order is the same waythat computers are programmed to resolve long strings of operatorsand numbers. 6.
