Question
Present your results in the format of a traditional laboratory write-up that includes the following sections: Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, References.
a) The determination of the quantity of water required to meet the evaporative losses from the human body is difficult. As we learned, the “adequate water intake (AI)” varies with many meteorological and biological variables, and there are many methods available to estimate this amount.
b) For a period of 24 hours, determine your water intake using three different methods: 1) keep track of your water intake; 2) use one of the available on-line calculators (if needed). Compare those estimates to the WHO recommended AI value we looked at for your age and gender group.
- Use the traditional “laboratory write-up” (Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, References) to describe and discuss your results.
Explanation / Answer

Adequate intake of water in the body depends upon body standard osmolarity value of urine and desirable volume per energy unit consumed.
