Question
A mirror produces an image that is located 40.00 cm behind the mirror when the object is located13.33 cm in front of the mirror. What is the focal length of the mirror? I'm using the following equation: 1/f = 1/13.33 -1/40.00, and I'm getting f = 9.998, but it is saying that that isthe wrong answer. What is wrong? Can someone show me what numberthey are getting?? PLEASE help! Thanks in advance! A mirror produces an image that is located 40.00 cm behind the mirror when the object is located13.33 cm in front of the mirror. You are on the right track. Lens equation: 1/f = 1/do + 1/di do = distance object (in front of the mirror so positivesign) = 13.33 cm di = distance of image (behind mirror so negative sign) = -40.00cm Put these into the equation: 1/f = (1/13.33cm) + (1/-40.00) 1/f = .0500187547 f = 1/.0500187547 = 19.99 cm
