1.Triacylglycerols or fats or triglycerides are made up of three fatty acid chains that are esterified to a glycerol backbone. Triacylglycerols forms an abundant source dietary lipid in human beings and also act as a major energy store. The energy yield upon complete oxidation of triglycerides is around 39 kJ g–1 which is greater than the energy yield obtained from proteins and carbohydrates.
