What are a) the equivalent capacitance C q of the capacitors and (b) the charge stored by C q? what are (c) V1 and (d) qi of capacitor 1, (e) v2 and (f) 72 of capacitor 2 and (g) V3 and (h) of capacitor 37 C, Go (a) Number Units Units Units Units | Units Units Units Units (b) Number (c) Number (d) Number (e) Number (f) Number (g) Number (h) Number 12:16 PM 10/21/2017 search

Explanation / Answer

C3 , C5 are in series

C35 = (C3*C5)/(C3+C5) = (5.5*5.5)/(5.5+5.5) = 2.75 uF

C4 , C35 , C2 are in parallel

C2345 = C2 + C35 + C4 = 2.2 + 2.75 + 2.2

C2345 = 7.15 uF

C1 ,C6 are in parallel

C16 = C1 + C6 = 3.5 + 3.5 = 7 uF

C16, C2345 are in series

1/Ceq = 1/C16 + 1/C2345 = 1/7 + 1/7.15

Ceq = 3.54 uF

=====================================================

b)

charge stored Q = Ceq*V = 3.54*19 = 67.26 uC

--------------------------

(c)

V1 = Q/C16 = 67.26/7 = 9.6 V

------------------------------

(d)

q1 = c1*v1 = 3.5*9.6 = 33.6 uC

----------------------------

e)

V2 = V - V1 = 19 - 9.6 = 9.4 V

--------------------------

f)

q2 = C2*V2 = 2.2*9.4 = 20.68 uC

-----------------------

g)

V35 = V2

V3 = Q3/C3 = (C35*V35)/C3 = C35*V2/C3 = 2.75*9.4/5.5 = 4.7 V

==========================

h)

q3 = C3*V3 = 5.5*4.7 = 25.85 uC
