Question
Homework Problems re is allowed to 2. An ideal m onatomie gas containing 10 moles of Helium initially at 00C and one atmosphe initial volume. If the gas is first cooled at a constant volume to half its initial pressure to expand at constant pressure to its final volume, find each of the following: (a) the initi gas, (b) the final pressure of the gas, (e) the final volume of the gas, (d) the final temperatur expand to twice it and then allowed of the of the gas, (e) the work done by the gas, () the heat added to the gas, (g) the change in internal ene gas.Explanation / Answer
a)
We know that by ideal gas law
PV=nRT
So
V=10*0.0821*273.15
V=224.25615L
or V=0.224m3
b)
it is given that final pressure is half of the initial pressure in first step, then it is expanded against constant pressure,
So final pressure will be 0.5atm
c)
Final volume is given to twice the initial volume
So 0.448m3 will be the final volume
d)
final temperature can be calculated by ideal gas law,
PV=nRT
0.5*101325*0.448=10*8.314*T
T=T=272.994K
