Question
A logistic growth model for a salmon population is shown below. At which of the following population sixe is the growth rate at its highest: 10000, 40000, or 60000 What is the estimated carrying capacity (K) for this population? You're an ecologist in charge of setting limits on when and how many salmon can be harvested each year. The goal is to maintain the salmon population size so that they can provide the maximum sustainable yield. What would be the ideal population size for maximum sustainable yield and please describe why?Explanation / Answer
I know the answer for only one question. Others I'm not sure.
A. The growth rate is highest at 40000 point.
Growth rate is increasing at exponential rate at 40000 point. Whereas in 60000 point, the net growth rate is decreasing and at 10000 point the growth rate is just beginning to accelerate.
