To answer the first question we have an equation to calculate the per capita rate of change/ increase of the population, that is: b - d = r. (b = birth rate, d = death rate, r = per capita rate of increase), on the other hand we have n = no of population.

In the example above we have to calcuate the per capita rate of change for the bobcat population in a Pensylvenia state park. Initial bobcat count = 48, in 1 year 60 kittens were born, and 15 bobcats were died.

per capita Birth rate b = absolute no of birth/no of population = 60/48 = 1.25, Death rate = absolute no of death/ no of population = 15/ 48 = 0.3125.

So Per capita growth rate r = b -d = 1.25- 0.3125 = 0.9375. This would be the per capita rate of change for this population of bobcats.

Second question is dealing with the answer "Selective breeding" where we can insert a specific phenotypic trait to the organism we desire to develope. So the green Fluorescent gene transfer is an example of selective breeding in case of Jellyfish to Zebrafish fish gene transfer.
