Question

Transportation need to evaluate the time spent in traveling from city A to city B. The distance between the two cities is a variable because the macro developed is to be used for other cities. 50% of travel time is done at a speed of 30 miles an hour and the remaining 50% of the travel time is done at a speed of 65 miles per hour. Write an macro that will take the distance between two cities from a worksheet and calculate and display the time it will take to travel from one city to the next.

I just need the problem worked out, I believe I can handle the excel macro part.

Thanks

Explanation / Answer

Let distance between A and B be 'D' total time = T in hours 0.5 T travelled with 30 miles/hour..........so distance travelled= 0.5Tx30 0.5 T travelled with 65 miles/hour..........distance travelled= 0.5Tx65 Total distance travelled= 0.5Tx30 + 0.5Tx65 =D ===> 15T+ 32.5T=D => T= D/(47.5)............. ans This is the mathematical expression to be used....
