Find the node voltages V1 and V2 in this circuit using KCL and a supernode. This was on a test and I was really confused. Thanks for the help!

Find the node voltages V1 and V2 in this circuit using KCL and a supernode. This was on a test and I was really confused. Thanks for the help!

Explanation / Answer

First equation of supernode, V2 - V1 = 10(io) ------>(1) io = (V1 - 50V)/(5) ------>(2) Put in (1), V2 - V1 = 10(V1 - 50)/(5) V2 - V1 = 2V1 -100 V2 - 3V1 = -100 ------>(3) Using KCL At Supernode, (V1-50)/(5) + (V1)/(50) + (V2)/(100) - 5A = 0 Multiply by 100 on both sides, 20V1 - 100 + 2V1 + V2 = 500 22V1 + V2 = 600 V2 = 600 - 22V1 ------>(4) Put in (3) 600 - 22V1 - 3V1 =-100 -25V1 = -700 V1 = 28V Now put in (4), V2 = 600 - 22(28) V2 = -16V
