Question
A stop valve is to be opened and closed via a double acting cylinder (i.e. the cylinder is not spring loaded). When the latch marked ‘open’ is pressed the piston rod is to extend, open the valve, and remain open until the ‘close’ latch is pressed, even if the ‘open’ latch is no longer depressed. The latch that opens the valve must override the ‘close’ latch.
The latches will only enter their ‘active’ state when depressed, they will not retain their new state after this.
Latches can be normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC).
The system must be energized by a relay controlled switch. (Hint: you may need to use a relay that controls more than one switch).
