Question

I have a set of 4 Li ion batteries. Each battery is rated at 12.8V and 100 Ah. So when attached in series, they give a total of 51.2V and 100Ah. I am attaching these batteries to a Motor rated at 48V, 150A and a peak power of 15 hp. The maximum running speed of the motor is 3500rpm unloaded and 3200 rpm Loaded.

The battery and motor are used to run an electric vehicle, which is supposed to race on a flat race track.

1)          I need the calculation for Maximum Time the battery can last before it is fully discharged (Running the motor at full speed and loaded)

2)        The Maximum speed the vehicle will achieve ( Please mention all assumptions)

3)          Amount of heat that might be generated from the battery and motor.

Explanation / Answer

Maximum speed will be limited by motor's rated speed which is given in specifications
