Question
Express the following function in terms of a cosine terms only: y(t) = 5 sin 4t + 3 cos 4t Express the function y(t) = 4 sin 2 pi t + 15 cos 2 pi t in terms of (a) a cosine (b) a sine a term only. Express the Fourier since given by using only cosine terms. If T is period of y(t), show that nT for n = 2,3,... is period the nth partial sum of a Fourier series is defined as For the third partial sum of the Fourier series given by What is the fundamental frequency and the associated period? Express this partial sum of as cosine terms only.Explanation / Answer
2.9
y(t) = 5sin(4t) + 3cos(4t)
= (52 + 32) * {[5/(52 + 32)] sin(4t) + [3/(52 + 32)] cos(4t)}
let 5/(52 + 32) = sin, 3/(52 + 32) = cos, so = 1.03 rad
y(t) = (52 + 32) [cos(4t) cos + sin(4t) sin]
y(t) = 34 cos(4t - 1.03)
