SB: Two students were discusing thelir idas Two students were discussing their ideas about how the speed of an object changes when given a push. aout how the sped of an S3: I agree that the speed changes because of the push, but I think the push only I think the speed of the object only increases while the push is actually happening. As soon as contact with the Sstarted the speed increasing, andi object doing the pushing is lost, the speed stops increasing. When we pushed the cart, as soon as contact with the hand was lost the cart stopped speedingleast for a continues getting faster afterward. I think that after the cart lost contact with the hand it continued to speed up, at short period of time. up. Daryl Luisa a) Do you agree with Daryl or Luisa or neither? What evidence supports your thinking? b) Whether you agree with Daryl or Luisa, why do you think the speed of the cart stopped increasing when it did?Explanation / Answer
a)I agree with Daryl. we know from 2nd law of motion that a = dv/dt and a = f/m . so there is force and hence acceleration only until there is contact.
b) speed of car stoped increasing means its acceleretion became zero. and it happens when force is zero. so as soon as contact is over acceleration is over.
