Question
A bird uses about 0.01 Cal to fly 1000 m. In average, the bird eats 40 g of food daily (providing in average 150 cal/g) which is converted to useful energy with an efficiency of 15%. Determine the maximum distance that the bird can fly each day.
Select one:
a.) 22 km c.) 90 km
b.) 60 km d.) 600 km

Determine the maximum distance that the bird can fly each dav Select one: O a. 22 km O b. 60 km c. 90 km d. 600 kmExplanation / Answer
Solution:
Energy consumed by the bird daily = 40 * 150 = 6000 cal
Given 15 % of energy is useful so 15 % of 6000 = 900 cal is used to fly
=> 0.01 cal to fly 1000m
=> 1 cal to fly 100000 m
=> 900 cal can be used to fly = 90000000 m = 90000 km
I think options are wrong or question has some wrong value.
but you can go with 90 km
