QUESTION 4 A worker drops a wrench from the top of a 92 meter tall building. How long does it take for the wrench to hit the ground?

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

1) Using h = u*t + 0.5 * g * t^2

=> h = 0.5 * 9.8 * 2.4^2 (as u=0)

=> h = 28.224 m

2) h = 0.5 * 9.8 * 5.6^2

=> h = 153.664 m

3) Using h = 0.5 * g * t^2

=> 112 = 0.5 * 9.8 * t^2

=> t = 4.781 s

4) 92 = 0.5 * 9.8 * t^2

=> t = 4.33 s
