Explanation / Answer

1. Elements produce different spectrum of light because each element has different energy level and they excite to various levels. Due to this difference every element has their own spectrum of light.

2. Collimator is a device which narrows the beam of light or wave. We use collimator after lamp so that the light from lamp is narrowed and focused wherever it is desired.

3. Whenever the electron comes from higher energy level to lower one it emits radiation of a defined frequency. So if there are total three excitation level then coming from each higher level to lower one radiation will be seen. So there will be total three light bands.

4. Spectrometer is used for measuring the properties of light such as its frequency, wavelength or energy.
