The ball's position is shown at 1 s intervals until t-3 s. Att 1 s, the ball's velocity is i (2.0i +2.0j) m/s. Part A
Let the acceleration due to gravity at the planet be g
In projectile motion, the horizontal component of velocity remains zero. Only vertical velocity changes
Therefore, horizontal component of velocity=2 m/s at all time
Let vertical velocity at 0 second be v
Vertical velocity at 2 seconds=0
Or, v=-2*g=-2g...(i)
Vertical velocity after 1 second=2 m/s
Or, 2=v+g*1=v+g...(ii)
From (i) and (ii), we get
g=-2 m/s²
v=-2g=-2*-2=4 m/s
Velocity at t=0 is 2i+4j
Part B
At 2 seconds, vertical velocity is zero
Therefore, velocity at 2 seconds=2i
Part C
Velocity at 3 seconds=2i-2j
Part D
Value of g as determined in part A=-2 m/s²
Part E
Ball's launch angle=arctan(4/2)=63.4 degrees
